Cheerios, crawling, crabbin....and such

The crunching of Cheerios underfoot has begun. The high chair, kitchen floor, living room floor, carseat, and who knows where else, is now spotted with those circular grains. Autumn is able to pick them up, transfer them from her left finger and thumb to her right, and usually find a way to get them into her mouth. She surprised us the other day when she reached down and picked up the smallest oat off the floor...ahh, the broom will be coming out more now. She thinks waffles are okay, too, as you can see from the picture. She mostly liked to hold the waffle, you know, for appearances and such, but she did eat a few of the small pieces we broke off for her. She is proving to be VERY stubborn when it comes to a lot of things, especially food. If anyone has some tips on getting a baby to eat let us know. :) We try slipping bites in when she least expects it but she's catching on now so we'll need a new tactic pretty quick here.
Other news....
Autumn's up on her hands and knees now. She can crawl backwards but the crawling frontwards is still a work in progress. She sits up on her own but her favorite is still walking around holding onto Mom or Dad. She has her normal "sit spots" where she always suddenly sits when we do go for a stroll around the apartment and she'll also usually throw in a quick turn here and there just to keep us on our toes.
She's been awfully crabby the past three days so we think she's getting another tooth. Just when she was back to her normal self too, now we have to start all over. Poor Autumn. She wants Mommy every waking (and sleeping!) second. Poor Daddy, he sometimes wonders if he'll ever get to hold his daughter without her reaching for Mommy. Poor Mommy, she sometimes wonders if she'll ever get anything accomplished, let alone three minutes to herself. Poor Mommy and Daddy, they're tired!! Okay, so enough of the pity party. We know it won't be forever and someday, yes, someday we might even miss these teething moments...maybe. (Aaron, Becky and Samuel....you know how it is)
Otherwise the big news is the snow storm. Daddy is being the wonderful guy that he is and is out helping someone get their car out of the parking lot. We were planning to go to the Wild game today but with a teething baby and not wanting our child care crew (ie Nana and Poppa) to come in this weather and/or to deal with a very crabby baby, Autumn's Aunt Sarah and Uncle Jay graciously offered to buy the tickets from us. We owe them for that one!
Well, we wish you all a joyous week, especially Grammy who has escaped the winter weather and is in Hawaii with Great Aunts Barb and Margee. Oh and by the way, Autumn just happened to mention to me last night, oh, around 3:44 am or so, how absolutely wonderful it would be to be cruising around Hawaii right now, non-alcoholic pina colada in hand, grass skirt, coconuts, bathing in the warm sun, all teeth in place. Mommy too.

Dada!

Well, as you can see from the title, Autumn now has added "dada" to her repertoire of words. She's begun stringing all the words together into sentences of babble, low grunts and the occasional wheeze. She's also trying to create her own motor boat noises by running her finger over her mouth (though not quickly enough yet for full effect :) She's even eating better in her high chair (she loves prunes, blueberries and pears).
She's also beginning to show signs of scooting (just like her mommy) along on her bottom! She's trying to crawl as well, but she seems to get more movement out of scooting. Then again, she may just walk before she crawls at the rate she moves when mommy walks with her. She's a natural!

Only Seven Short Months Ago...

Wow, where do we even begin? How is it possible that only seven short months ago all Autumn could do was eat, sleep, and cry? And now look at her, smiling, laughing, trying to walk, (with lots of help, of course) sitting up, rolling over, saying "mama, baba, gaa, nee, ahh, "... along with an assortment of her trademark nonhuman sounds, eating pureed blueberries and apples, (well sort of, when the moods right) drinking from a cup, banging her blocks together, spinning around in her exersaucer like a pro, turning book pages, splashing in the tub, ...and the list goes on! And now her new favorite, waving! She is such a blessing, one of the greatest gifts God has given us. It's our prayer that you will be blessed as well, as together, with us, you watch Autumn grow and embark on the many adventures that lay ahead.
